QUEENS MODERN / MATERIAL & DESIGN GUIDE

Shaker, slim Shaker or flat panel?

Choose the door profile first, then compare color, texture and construction. Queens Modern brings Parriott Shaker and Elegant cabinetry together with a separate modern panel selection and over 100 styles to discuss in the showroom.

Queens Modern Natural Wood flat-panel showroom door sample
Our Natural Wood showroom sample. A finish name does not identify the wood species or construction.

Three door profiles, different room character.

Door profileWhat you seeWhat to compare
Shaker cabinetsA visible frame around a recessed center panel.Frame proportions, painted or wood-tone finish, and matching drawer fronts.
Slim Shaker cabinetsA narrower frame for a lighter outline around the panel. The actual available door profile, edge dimensions and construction.
Flat-panel / slab-front cabinetsA smooth face without a Shaker-style recessed center.Surface texture, grain direction, edge detail and finish.
Fluted or reeded frontsA textured ribbed surface that can serve as an accent.Where matching components are available and how the surface is maintained.

White Shaker kitchen cabinets.

White Shaker gives you a defined door profile and a flexible starting palette. Compare the white against your countertop sample: a warm-white stone can read differently beside a cool-white door.

Our Parriott Shaker collection keeps the manufacturer’s finish names. View the actual cabinet doors, then coordinate the countertop, hardware and lighting. A familiar style name is useful, but the product specification is what defines your order.

Slim Shaker: request the profile you want.

Slim Shaker, thin Shaker and skinny Shaker are terms used for a narrower framed look. They do not identify a single standard rail width or a particular manufacturer.

Choose Slim Shaker as a design direction in our kitchen builder. We confirm the available door, finish and construction at selection. A standard Parriott Shaker door shown elsewhere on this site is not a photograph of a confirmed slim-Shaker product.

Flat-panel cabinets, also called slab-front cabinets.

For a modern kitchen, compare smooth neutrals with wood-grain fronts. Our modern panel gallery includes named showroom samples such as Natural Wood, Walnut Tone, Linen Grain and Fluted Wood. The same selection can travel into your kitchen brief.

“Flat panel” describes the front. It does not by itself mean frameless construction. Confirm the cabinet box, hinges, front material and finished edges for the collection you choose.

White oak, walnut and two-tone kitchen ideas.

If you like white oak kitchen cabinets, bring that reference and compare its grain and undertone with available samples. An oak-look or walnut-tone finish is not a promise of solid oak or walnut. Ask whether the selected front is solid wood, veneer, laminate or another specified material.

A two-tone kitchen can pair white upper cabinets with warmer lower cabinets or a contrasting island. Compare all exposed panels, trim and accessories so the finish stays consistent across the measured design.

Choose storage and cabinet height alongside the style.

Bring your appliance dimensions, ceiling height and photos of the room. Compare 36-inch and 42-inch wall cabinets, drawer bases, pantry storage, corner access and fillers with the same door selection.

Whether you are planning a small galley kitchen in Queens or an island kitchen in Whitestone or Bayside, the usable space and installation details shape the cabinet schedule. Materials-only and full-service options can be discussed around the same plan.

Before you choose.

Are Shaker and slim Shaker the same cabinet?
They are related style directions, with different frame proportions. Exact dimensions, materials and hardware depend on the selected product. Confirm the actual door sample before ordering.
Are flat-panel cabinets always frameless?
No. Door appearance and cabinet-box construction are different specifications. A smooth slab front does not establish how the cabinet box is built.
Are white oak-look cabinets solid white oak?
Not necessarily. Finish names describe appearance unless the specification confirms the wood species and construction. We record those details for the actual product.
Can I compare doors with quartz at the showroom?
Request a material meeting and tell us your preferred door and quartz direction. We confirm the samples and available products for your selection, then record the approved finish in your project portfolio.
